Saltaire Today

Saltaire today has won several leading National and European awards, and is now a world heritage site, this means the government has a duty to protect the site. Saltaire became a world heritage site in December 2001. There are various reasons why Saltaire won these awards such as the brilliant attractions there. This includes Roberts park which was first designed by William Gay who was one of Sir Titus Salt's friends. Roberts park is a massive part of Saltaire as many different people enjoy visiting it, kids, tourists and adults etc. Another reason why Saltaire might have won these awards is because of 'Jimmy Gs' which is a fantastic and entertaining kids playcentre. Many tourists from other countries and cities come to Saltaire because of Jimmy Gs. The Congregational church is also extremely popular in Saltaire, many people visit the chiurch in Saltaire at least once a week. The Salts mill is also a big part of Saltaire, this was a huge factory which first opened in 1853. The factory produced millions of pieces of cloth everyday. Overall I believe Saltaire today has become much more modern than before. There are many things that are available now, that were never before.
