Salt Mill

Salts mill opened in 1853, it was a textile mill that produced cloth(alpaca wool). At one point it was the biggest factory in the world. There were about 3000 workers working there producing 30,000 yards of cloth every single day. But the textile industry gradually declined and by the 1980s the mill was unwanted.

Jonathan Silver purchased the mill in 1987.
The mill was broken down and most of the parts didn't seem to have much of a future, but Jonathan didn't see the mill this way he was not intimidated by the huge project, in fact he was very exited and content.By the time of his death 10 years later Jonathan had turned the dull, empty and decaying place into a luminous center for art and commerce. He displayed colorful paintings by David Hockney.

Salts Mill is now an art gallery, small shopping center, and restaurant.
